There has been much anticipation about the
new release Pinot Gris. Vintage 2021 was a
classic Clare Valley harvest resulting in fruit
with great varietal character and lovely
natural acidity.

Flavours of quince and stewed Granny Smith apples, fresh and bright pineapple juice and clean acid. Finishes with a hint of sweetness and some subtle oak flavours – a textural wine with full bodied generosity.

A dry and cool Autumn led to above average rainfall across winter and spring. High soil moisture throughout the growing season combined with mild summer temperatures delayed both bud-burst and version, resulting in near perfect ripening conditions. The flavour development and acid retention across all varieties was exceptional, and one of the latest starts to vintage in more than a decade allowed the grapes to ripen slowly on the vine. A great vintage all round in Clare.

Mitchell’s Pinot Gris has been crafted in the traditional, low intervention style that has been used consistently over the last 45years. The fruit was hand harvested and treated carefully in the winery, whole bunch pressed, followed by a wild ferment partially in French oak, resulting in a textural, full bodied and generous wine.
